The Venturi effect (or Venturi tube) was the primary element used in the racing cars of Formula 1 from the late '70s to the early '80s. The technology mimics the effect of an airplane wing but in reverse: to keep the car on the ground, it reduces the air pressure underneath, allowing the higher pressure above (which is greater) to push it down to the ground. Two notable examples of its operation are the Brabham 46B (which used a kind of air extractor to suck the air from under the car) and the Lotus 88 (which employed two chassis to "trick" the regulations, creating the Venturi effect at high speeds). Both models took ground effect to the extreme, generating downforce in, at the very least, curious ways. **************************************************************** Music: Escape from LV426 by Karl Casey @WhiteBatAudio • Free Synthwave Music - Escape From LV426 /...
