Hey there neighbors, Kevin a with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a closer look at the general fit, a few maintenance items, and then the start of our Cummins Onan RV Generator here on our 2023 Thor Magnitude Class C Motorhome. So one thing that might be a just overall issue with this, is just there's only about 3 to 4" between the top of our generator and the ceiling here for our little cubby. And the oil fill port and coolant fill port are kind of blocked, especially by the def inlet here. So you wouldn't really be able to get in there with a hard tubed canister of any kind. So you really have to have a flexible hose to get in there or some kind of fuel pump to actually pump that up into it and fill up your tanks there. So that could add a little bit more to your maintenance on this because you are supposed to be doing different kinds of maintenance depending on the amount of usage. So the starting one would be once you get past that first 20 hours of usage, you're supposed to change out the oil. Obviously, it's gonna be a lot harder to get in and add some oil into it with how close that is. I can see our neighbors at about 36 hours. So they're just past that point where they should have changed out the oil. So they may have already gotten to that and tried to figure it out or they may still be needing to do so. Now just down below is where we're gonna find some of the other components here and access that we'll need to do our maintenance items. So why don't we drop down here So when we are doing our oil change, our oil drain is gonna be this plug right here. You can just simply pop that out and you could allow your oil to drain out. Next to it is a little hatch, which is gonna have some pinch clamps on there and you pop that open and that's gonna show you your fuel line. So there's your return and your supply line and those are both going to have filters on 'em, so you occasionally would need to change that out. And then above that you can see your oil filter, that dark gray right there that is something where you're probably gonna be changing it out quite a bit more often just because of usage. (latch clicking) So over here is where our air intake's gonna be. We have an air filter right behind this cover. So if we just pop off this wingnut, we can pop the cover off and you can gain access to that air filter which you want to either replace or clean out, depending on your usage as well, that's all stuff you can find in that owner's manual. They've got a great chart that explains it out exactly when you should be doing those changes for your maintenance schedule here. Now one other thing with this, over here you can see quite a bit of rigging done for the exhaust. So they move that all the way out so it wouldn't be sucking in that exhaust right back into the air intake. And one thing that people do like to do is if this is a permanent camper where you're just leaving it at a certain site and not taking it home, or maybe you're in a colder climate and you're still doing this even when you're out on the go just putting up a skirting or any kind of insulation around the bottom just to kind of hold in that heat from below. You don't wanna do that around your generator if you're gonna be using it because this needs to have proper air flow through it. Otherwise it's not gonna get the right fuel to air mixture in there and it's not gonna perform right and you're gonna end up having more issues. Now coming over to the right side of our unit, you can see those brackets I was talking about. There's three bolts here and there's more bolts on the other bracket. So you'd have to really get in here to pop those loose and then be able to drop down the bracket that actually holds up our unit here. Moving alongside, we've got our power and our ground, we've got our fuel supply, our fuel return. So when you are checking those fuel lines, a good thing to just kinda look out for if you're not seeing drips on the concrete, if you're starting to see moisture building up here on the fittings, that's probably your telltale sign that you got a slowly leak happening and it's time to maybe replace the fitting itself, replace the hose, you know, even though this hose is kind of covered by our body here, it still eventually
