It was originally designed by the British as a sports and entertainment venue. In 1956, Mr. Lu Xun was reburied here and renamed. It is now the only century-old park in Shanghai that integrates historical memorials, natural landscapes, and citizen leisure. Spring cherry blossoms and autumn maples, English lawns and Chinese landscapes blend together. The scenes such as koi in the center of the lake and Beishan Waterfall are full of poetry. The cherry blossom avenue from Hongkou Football Stadium to the park is the "most humanistic cherry blossom" in Shanghai! Lu Xun Memorial Hall is the first figure memorial hall in New China. It houses more than 200,000 cultural relics such as Lu Xun's manuscripts and relics. The light and shadow exhibition on the second floor restores his ten years of life in Shanghai. Lu Xun (1881-1936) was originally named Zhou Shuren. He was from Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province and was the founder of modern Chinese literature. He studied medicine in Japan in his early years, and later devoted himself to the literary revolution with his pen. His representative works "Call to Arms", "Wandering" and "Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk" expose feudal ethics and national bad habits. He pioneered the genre of essays, criticizing society with sharp language like "a dagger throwing a spear", and his famous saying "I face the criticism of thousands of people with a cold brow" shows his character. In his later years, he insisted on independent thinking in the left-wing thought. When he died, his coffin was covered with the flag of "national soul", and he was praised as "the biggest coordinate on the cultural map of East Asia in the 20th century".
