Khichdo/ Also called Haleem Ingredients: 1. 1.5 cups brown rice 2. 1 cup 5 kinds of dal Masoor dal Chana dal Moong dal Urad dal Red lentil 3. 1.5 lbs goat meat 4. 2 TBSP ghee 6. 1 TBSP green masala 7. 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds) 8. 2-3 Bay leaves 9. 3-4 green chilies (based on your spice level) 10. 1 large Onion 11. 3 tsp Red Chili powder 12. 3 tsp Cumin/ coriander seeds powder (dhana jeera) 13. 3 tsp Garam masala 14. 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi) 15. 1 lime 16. 1 cup of chopped mint and cilantro KHICHDO/ Haleem Instructions: 1. Boil 5 Kinds of dal and brown rice together in a pressure cooker. 2. Add salt, green masala and 4 glasses of water in brown rice/dal cooker. 3. Boil meat in another pressure cooker. 4. Put 2 glasses of water in meat cooker. 5. Close the lid of pressure cooker and Cook in high flames for first pressure and then low flame for rest of the time. 6. Cook it for at least 45 minutes and check if it is well cooked. 7. If it is still hard (dal/rice/meat), add some water if needed and let it cook for another 15-20 minutes. 8. Check if it well cooked 9. Blend dal/ brown rice with hand blender 10. Take a pot, put 2 TBSP of ghee 11. Fry 1 large onion until dark brown in color 12. Now, put 1 tsp jeera, 2 bay leaves, 4 green chilies and Indian masala 13. Put boiled meat, dal/brown rice and mix them all with a large spoon 14. Keep mixing on medium- low flame for 30-40 minutes 15. Squeeze lime and put chopped mint and cilantro 16. Serve it hot with fried onions and lime
