Today I’m comparing the Celestion G12T-75 with several of my favourite speakers in a full low-tuned metal mix. This whole video started by accident: I picked up two unused T-75s from a Marshall 1960 cab for 70€ and thought, "Let’s just test them quickly." Well… that turned into a complete multi-speaker shootout. I’ll walk you through the test setup, the raw tones, the solo tracks, and the blends. All recordings are dual-mic’d, gain-matched, phase-aligned and processed through my analog stereo chain, so the differences you hear are actually from the speakers, not loudness. Processing info: Each stereo guitar speaker bus runs through SSL UV EQ and a touch of Tegeler Creme compression. Minimal digital tone shaping (Hi- and Lo-Cut). Speakers tested: • Celestion G12T-75 (two units: one broken-in, one basically new) • Eminence Karnivore (2025) • Eminence DV-77 • Celestion Vintage 30 (2005) • Celestion Greenback (2005 UK) My personal takeaway: The Karnivore and Vintage 30 delivered the most mix-ready punch. The T-75 surprised me, especially blended with the DV-77, but also on itself. But tone is personal. Trust your own ears. 👉 Vote for your favourite blend in the comments. Whichever combination gets the most votes → I will create IRs for it and release them for free. ⸻ 🎧 Test Setup • 7-string guitar • Noise gate → Boss SD-1 → PRS MT-15 • SM57 + RB100 ribbon on the main speakers • e906 on DV-77, GB, V30 for blend colour • ENGL E412 + Palmer 2×12 (internally dampened) • Stereo bus: SSL UV EQ + Tegeler Creme compression • All tracks level-matched & phase-aligned • No IRs, no amp sims, all real cabs, real mics ⸻ If you found this shootout helpful: • Leave a like 👍 • Share it with a fellow tone nerd • Subscribe for more down-tuned gear tests, mixes & IRs ⸻ 🧰 Gear Used Cort KX507MS Stardust Green PRS MT-15 (5881 power amp tubes) Palmer Trave Audient iD44 ENGL E412 PRO Eminence Karnivore 8 Ohm (2025, USA) Eminence DV-77 (2022, USA) Celestion Vintage 30 (2005, PRC) Celestion Greenback (2005, UK) Celestion G12T-75 (2015, UK) Shure SM57 RB100 Ribbon Sennheiser e906 Vic Firth SIH2 ⸻ ✅ Disclaimer I am not sponsored by any of the brands or manufacturers mentioned in this video. ✅ Music Riffs by Franz Kindermann (Koenich) ⸻ ⏱️ Timecodes: 00:50 Motivation & Introduction 04:50 Plain microphone sounds of the Karnivore & the G12T-75 05:10 Microphone blend and analog EQ/Compression treatment 06:00 The two Celestion T75s sound pretty different 06:20 Karnivore vs "mellow" T75 06:35 Karnivore vs "hi-fi" vs "mellow" T75 06:55 Switching Speakers in a Full Mix 07:30 Supporting Speakers solo sound & EQ treatment 08:25 Skipping through the supporting speakers, trim the ears on differences 08:55 Supporting speakers on their own in a Full Mix 09:24 Blending the Karnivore (solo) 10:00 Blending the G12T-75 (solo) 10:26 Introducing "The Riddle" - Which is which combination? 10:52 The Riddle 11:20 Conclusion & Vote 12:05 Outro music #KoenichSound #Guitarspeaker #Celestion #G12T75 #SpeakerShootout #GuitarTone #DV77 #EminenceKarnivore #V30 #Greenback #LowTunedMetal #GuitarRecording #MetalGuitar #Reamping #ToneTest #GuitarGear
