In this video, we will discuss which herbicides should be used in different crops for the coming season in Pakistan, so farmers can control weeds effectively and increase their yield. Weed pressure changes with season, crop type, and moisture conditions, so selecting the right herbicide at the right time is very important for profitable farming. For wheat crop, especially during early post-emergence stage, herbicides like bromoxynil + MCPA, clodinafop, or mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron are commonly used depending on whether grassy weeds or broadleaf weeds are dominant. In areas of Punjab where phalaris minor (gulli danda) is a serious issue, selecting a specific grassy weed herbicide is critical. Always spray at the recommended growth stage to avoid crop stress. In spring maize, pre-emergence herbicides like atrazine or s-metolachlor are effective if applied right after sowing and before germination. For post-emergence control, nicosulfuron can be used for grassy weeds. In crops like rice, especially basmati varieties in Punjab, pre-emergence options such as butachlor or pretilachlor are useful, while bispyribac sodium works well in post-emergence stage against mixed weeds. For cotton crop, pre-emergence herbicide pendimethalin is widely used after sowing. In post-emergence stage, pyrithiobac sodium or quizalofop can be applied depending on weed type. In sugarcane, atrazine and metribuzin are commonly used for early weed control, while 2,4-D can be used carefully for broadleaf weeds at proper crop stage. Before using any herbicide, always check the crop stage, weed type, soil moisture, and temperature conditions. Follow label instructions and recommended doses to prevent resistance and crop damage. In this video, we will guide you crop-wise so you can make better decisions for the upcoming season and protect your investment.
