Fugue in D minor (K. 41) by Domenico Scarlatti, performed by harpsichordist Colin Booth, accompanied by a graphical score. FAQ Q: Where can I hear more by this performer? A: This piece is from this album: https://www.colinbooth.co.uk/preludes... Q: What do the colors mean? A: In most fugue, I assign a color to each of the voices. In this fugue, that wasn't possible, because although there are seldom more than four lines playing at a time, there's no way to assign four colors in a consistent way. For example, there are passages where voices enter at progressively lower pitches, and when the first (highest) voice drops out and a new voice enters, it is now the lowest voice. So, I've used six colors, and when a voice enters, I use whichever color has been idle the longest. Q: Why is the pitch one-half step flat? A: The music is being performed at "Baroque pitch."
