On Saturday, April 20, VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center invited the community to a free, family-friendly carnival at VCU's Stuart C. Siegel Center. Together, the crowd celebrated Massey’s comprehensive designation from the National Cancer Institute and recognized Massey’s 50th anniversary with carnival-themed food, games, prize giveaways and more. It was also an opportunity for members of the community, including Massey Cancer Champion Vanessa Spurlock, to meet the researchers who have dedicated their careers to making discoveries that will one day make a future without cancer a reality. In this Real Cancer Talk video, Spurlock shares her journey from cancer patient to Cancer Champion and what it meant to see the scientists at the Comprehensive Carnival.
