We Didn’t Expect This in Port Stephens & Hunter Valley This road trip took us from the coast of Port Stephens to the heart of the Hunter Valley, and it ended up being one of our favourite travel days in Australia so far. We explore Nelson Bay, visit local cafes and markets, make lunch at the van and enjoy relaxed coastal evenings before heading out to Fly Point, often considered the best snorkelling spot in Port Stephens, where the water and marine life completely surprised us. The next day we head inland to the Hunter Valley, experiencing it for the first time as Brits living in Australia. From fresh scones and cheese tasting to chocolate shops, scenic countryside and dog friendly walks, it was a totally different side of Australia that we didn’t expect.
