28 May 2024 was a day quietly set apart from ordinary life, the beginning of a new chapter, moving from a comfortable love into the deliberate building of a life together. Two families, shaped by different cultures and histories, met; barriers softened, differences became bridges, and memories quietly began to take their place among the ordinary moments of time. Many say marriage is unnecessary, that love alone suffices, and a wedding is but a formality. I once thought so too. But perhaps it is not the institution that matters, but the manner in which it is embraced. A wedding is not measured by gold or grandeur; such things, when pursued too eagerly, bring only stress and a quiet erosion of joy. What matters is presence, the mind and heart attentive, the soul quietly open. Nor can any human truly connect with hundreds of faces in a single day. A wedding, then, finds its meaning in intimacy: in those few whose presence can be truly shared, whose laughter and words are noticed, whose quiet gestures are treasured. To invite everyone at once is to invite distraction; to overreach is to dilute the gift of attention. It is the simple truth of human gatherings: presence cannot be borrowed or spread too thin. I have seen large weddings where all is formal, distant, and hurried, where the heart becomes a spectator among strangers. This day, however, was deliberately different. It was small, it was real, it was ours. Here, love was not declared with spectacle, but lived in quiet observation and mutual delight. To us it became clear our wedding, like life, is not in the grandeur, but in the careful attention paid to what truly matters, the joining of lives, the sharing of presence, the making of memories that linger quietly, patiently, and deeply. In such simplicity lies its beauty, and in such attention lies its truth.
