Making of compound impression: Insert the tray with softened compound inside the patient mouth. The softened compound must be tempered in the hot water path before insertion into the patient mouth to avoid burning of the mucosa. Molding of labial flange: Forward, Upward & inward lip movement. Molding of buccal flange: Forward, Upward & inward cheek movement. Stabilize the tray well using the index and middle fingers during the molding procedures. Insert the compound when necessary in the hot water to soften the compound in the area you are molding. Molding of lingual flange: anterior lingual flange, middle lingual flange, posterior lingual flange. Anterior lingual flange: Instruct the patient to retrud his tongue posteriorly to touch the soft palate. Middle lingual flange: Ask the patient to rest the tongue in the floor of the mouth then move the tip of the tongue right and left to touch the angle of the mouth. Posterior lingual flange (Lingual pouch): Ask the patient to wipe the skin of the upper lip from side to side by his tongue. It's very important to hear the suction sound during impression removal, this will grantee a good peripheral seal required for physical means of retention. After removal of the impression, review the anatomical landmarks. Make necessary corrections when required. Fire torch is advised to be used only in minor adjustments to avoid burning of the impression compound and loss of its plasticizer. In minor adjustments by torch, don’t forget to temper the compound in hot water before insertion in patient mouth. #step_by_step_complete_denture_making
