The Futurism (1909 - 1944) was an artistic and social avant-garde movement that called for violence and destruction of museums and librairies. This art movement had a significant influence of the art of the 20th century. Clemens Holzmeister was very impressed by Antonio Sant'Elia's architectural designs for "A New City", while the stage designs by Enrico Prampolini added a new component to the expressive theatre. Alfred Stieglitz, who was enthusiastic about classical music was highly influenced by the European culture (he lived in Germany for nine years), could not take advantage of the futurist's destructiveness and excluded futuristic artists from the 'Armory Show' (1913) in New York. Today, Luigi Russolo is one of the fathers of electronic music.
