Niyi Osundare of Nigeria is widely esteemed on several continents. He read in Poetry Ball 2 at Cafe Istanbul in New Orleans, this past February. You can check out Niyi's biography, his political activism, and his publications through this review by Megan Burns of his 2011 book City Without Walls. http://solidquarter.blogspot.com/2012... Niyi said before reading his 'People Are My Clothes' poem: "In Yoruba philosophy and cosmology the human being is right at the center of the universe," Remindful of Walt Whitman! 'At the center of all, and object of all, stands the Human Being, toward whose heroic and spiritual evolution poems and everything directly or indirectly tends, Old World or New.' Walt wrote in 'A Backward Glance', 1888. Niyi is now 65. Videography by Paul Punzo.
