*Welcome to Bedtime Myths, History and Legends for Kids — the channel where ancient stories help little ones drift off to sleep.* In this episode, we travel all the way back to the very beginning of everything. Before the mountains. Before the sea. Before the sun rose for the very first time. This is the story of how the world began, told gently and slowly, just the way bedtime stories should be. This is Book One of our Ancient Greek Myths series: *The Creation of the Gods.* --- *What happens in this story?* We begin in Chaos — the great emptiness before anything existed. Not darkness, not silence, simply nothing at all. And then, very slowly, the first things begin to arrive. Gaia, the earth, appears out of the nothing, solid and steady and patient. Tartarus settles deep beneath her, the anchor at the very bottom of everything. Eros arrives as a gentle invisible pull, the force that connects all things. Then come Erebus, the deep darkness, and Nyx, the night — one of the oldest and most respected figures in all of Greek mythology. Even the most powerful gods, the ancient Greeks said, were careful around Nyx. She spreads her dark cloak across the sky each evening and hangs her stars in place, just as she has done since the very beginning of the world. From Erebus and Nyx, the first light is born. Aether rises into the high clear air above the clouds, and Hemera, the day, steps forward each morning to fill the world with warmth and brightness before stepping gently back each evening to let her mother Nyx return. And then Gaia, finally ready, begins to shape herself. Mountains rise slowly from the flat earth like bread swelling in a warm oven. The sea, Pontus, pours into the low places between them, breathing gently, reflecting Nyx's stars in its still surface for the very first time. The world has its first shape. And it is ready for what comes next. --- *Perfect for:* Kids aged 6 to 12 Bedtime and sleep time Long car journeys and quiet time Children who love history, mythology and ancient civilisations Parents looking for calm, screen-friendly wind-down content Homeschool families studying ancient Greece and world history --- *What makes this different?* This is not a dramatic retelling. There are no battles, no monsters, no jump scares. The story is told in a slow, calm, gentle voice, designed specifically to help children relax and fall asleep while learning about one of the oldest and most wonderful stories ever told. Think of it as a history lesson that actually puts your child to sleep — in the best possible way. --- *Characters in this episode:* *Chaos* — the great emptiness before anything existed *Gaia* — the earth, the first solid thing *Tartarus* — the deep place at the very bottom of the world *Eros* — the gentle invisible force that connects all things *Erebus* — the deep darkness *Nyx* — the night, ancient and wise and deeply respected *Aether* — the bright clear air of the high heavens *Hemera* — the day, daughter of Nyx *Pontus* — the first sea --- *Series: The Creation of the Gods — Ancient Greek Myths for Kids* Book One: Before the World Had a Name Coming next: Book Two — Uranus and the Sky, and the first great family of gods, the Titans. --- *Tags:* bedtime story for kids, greek mythology for kids, ancient greece for kids, sleep story for children, kids history podcast, mythology bedtime story, greek gods for kids, calming bedtime story, sleep meditation for kids, history for kids, ancient myths for children, kids sleep story, relaxing story for kids, homeschool ancient greece, world history for kids, greek creation myth, chaos gaia nyx greek myth, titans for kids, bedtime podcast for kids, mythology and history for kids --- New stories every week.
