Welcome back to Renovating in Tuscany! Join us in this episode as we navigate the joys and challenges of our renovation journey while cherishing family moments in beautiful Italy. With Baby Robbie now with us, we decided to explore San Rossore Nature Park, a serene reserve just 30 minutes from home. Despite not spotting any deer this time, the endless umbrella pine trees and scenic views made it a perfect getaway. With excitement building, we prepared for the arrival of Rob’s mom and sister, visiting Italy for the first time to meet Baby Robbie. Setting up our new modular couch was a highlight, designed to offer flexible lounging space that complements our villa’s warm-toned kitchen and brass finishes. Hosting family and friends is one of the best parts of our renovation adventure, and this new addition makes it even more enjoyable. Their visit turned into a delightful staycation as we explored the picturesque town of Siena. From savoring our first gelato to strolling through the historic Piazza del Campo and admiring the majestic Duomo, it was a truly special experience. We then headed to Chiusi for an epic lunch at La Solita Zuppa, indulging in Tuscan favorites like fegatini, asparagus soup, and various pasta dishes, all topped off with delicious desserts and lots of laughter. Rob’s sister, a talented florist, found inspiration in a quaint flower shop, creating a beautiful arrangement for our villa. Sharing such moments in small Tuscan towns is why we set roots here, despite being far from California. Our culinary journey continued in Chianti with a mouthwatering Bistecca alla Fiorentina dinner, surrounded by scenic vineyards and olive trees. We wrapped up our adventure with a visit to Montesiepi Chapel to see the legendary sword in the stone, taking in the impressive views and historical frescos. A trip to the hardware store for herb garden supplies turned into another fun outing, showcasing Italy’s dog-friendly culture. Baby Robbie, now a pro at running errands, even caught a nap. Hosting family has been the cherry on top of our renovation progress. Every moment, from setting up cozy spaces to exploring local gems, brings us closer to our dream of transforming our villa into a haven for loved ones.
