A railtour from Inverness to Thurso and Wick on 9 October 1976

In this silent cine film we join an LNER Society weekend excursion train on 9 October 1976 as it leaves Dingwall station heading for Thurso and Wick on the far north line. The train is hauled by Class 26 locomotives 26034 and 26035. We are held outside Georgemas Junction station as a train arrives from Thurso. We then enter the station and our train splits into Thurso and Wick portions. One of the Class 26 locomotives runs round the train and backs our Thurso portion into the station to clear the junction. Following a brief clip of our arrival at Thurso we see a final shot of the reformed excursion train at Wick later in the day. The train returned to Inverness and overnight to London Euston.
