Errors of Denominations and False Doctrines They Teach. (Examined in the Light of the King James Bible) Throughout church history many religious systems have developed doctrines that mix Israel’s prophetic program with the Mystery revealed to the Apostle Paul, producing confusion and division. But the problem is deeper than mere doctrinal confusion. Fallen humanity in Adam does not naturally love God. Men seek solutions to guilt, suffering, fear, and the consequences of sin, yet the natural man remains estranged from God. Only through the gospel does a sinner become awakened to God, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and brought into fellowship with His Son. Romans 3:10–11 (KJB) “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” Romans 8:7 (KJB) “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Because of this fallen condition, men often build religious systems and traditions rather than submitting to the pure teaching of the Word of God. We are commanded: 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJB) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” When the Scriptures are not rightly divided, confusion inevitably follows. As a result, many denominations arise, each teaching different and often contradictory doctrines. How Religious Systems Replace the Simplicity of the Gospel of Grace From the earliest days of the church, the gospel of the grace of God has faced opposition—not only from unbelief, but also from religious systems that add human traditions, rituals, and works to the finished work of Christ. The gospel revealed to the Apostle Paul is wonderfully simple. A sinner is saved by grace through faith, not by religious performance, ceremonies, or human effort. Yet throughout history men have repeatedly complicated the gospel, building systems of doctrine that place burdens upon believers which God never intended. The Apostle Paul warned that religious influence could corrupt the gospel and move believers away from the simplicity that is in Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3 (KJB) “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” When the simplicity of the gospel is replaced by religious systems, several things usually happen: • Grace becomes mixed with works • Church authority replaces the authority of Scripture • Rituals and traditions are treated as necessary for salvation • Israel’s prophetic program is confused with the Mystery revealed to Paul The result is not spiritual clarity, but confusion and division. Yet the message committed to the Apostle Paul remains wonderfully clear. Acts 20:24 (KJB) “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” The gospel of grace proclaims that salvation is the free gift of God, accomplished entirely through the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJB) “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” When this gospel is believed, the sinner is justified, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and placed into Christ apart from religious works or human merit.
