The trail offers exceptional mountain riding including water crossings, beautiful meadows of wildflowers and lakes around every bend. Base camp is Big Mountain Lodge in Ferron where you can not only gas up and chill out, you also have access to even more trails, lakes, camping and one of our favorites, the San Rafael Swell. Big Mountain Lodge features a restaurant and coffee shop on site as well as UTV and watersport rentals. Enjoy fishing, golf, jet skiing or paddle boarding all within minutes of the lodge. In our “Where To,” Reece and Marianne Stein enjoy a day hike on the Wasatch Crest Trail, which runs along the ridge between the Salt Lake canyons and Park City. This beautiful multipurpose trail is lined with wildflowers, wide open tundra and groves of aspen and pine. This is the perfect late summer into early fall hike. It’s so lovely in fact, it’s one of Marianne’s top five mountain hikes! It’s approximately 11 miles and takes five to six hours at a leisurely pace.
