Historic Polbeth Village in the heart of West Lothian. Home to James "Paraffin" Young, Chemist, entrepreneur and friend of David Livingstone. This short film gifted to the village of Polbeth by recent Film Graduates Reece & Ben, tell the story of Polbeth's shale history , with footage from West Lothian Shale Museum and interview with the Museums Curator. The film outlines plans by the community, supported by Polbeth Community Council and its community partners Polbeth Community Hub, to secure land bequeathed to the people of Polbeth by Alice Thom, Young's Granddaughter, for a ground breaking community owned solar farm. The solar farm could provide electricity for 500 homes within the village. The land bequeathed to the people of Polbeth was for the benefit of the residents. A DTAS spokesperson, outlines the huge community benefit that a project like this, could bring to the village , its people and for the generations to follow.
