sorry joey lol. Roman "The Butcher" Barbieri is one of Sal Marcano's lieutenants and the man who runs the rackets in Pointe Verdun. Background Barbieri grew up in Chicago with his father, who worked with the various crime syndicates in the area, and took young Roman to several of his contracts, showing him the ruthlessness of the life they led and how the world they lived worked. From a young age, Barbieri was involved in dozens of murders related to the criminal underworld of Chicago. A legendary Chicago hitman and enforcer, Roman Barbieri was sent to New Bordeaux in 1934 to help Sal Marcano deal with the rest of the Carillo Crime Family, that Sal had taken over and turned into the Marcano Crime Family. Impressed by Barbieri's ruthlessness, Sal offered him a job as his personal assassin. Barbieri accepted, and was given Roberdeau's as a base of operations. There, he carved out a reputation as a man who would make any enemy of the Marcanos "disappear" by turning them into ground meat, earning him the nickname "The Butcher". In 1966, Thomas Burke, head of the Irish Mob, had a falling out with the Marcanos over a botched smuggling job. Barbieri was sent by the Marcanos to send a message to Burke, and instead of killing him, brought a crowbar to his leg. The Marcanos rewarded him with control over Pointe Verdun. He took over Burke's bootlegging racket, turning it over to "Brooklyn" Carl Bevers. He also expanded his own operation into extortion and protection rackets, run by Sonny Blue out of Roberdeau's. Downfall and Death Burke and his daughter Nicki regrouped their remaining forces, and with the help of Lincoln Clay, they set out to bring down Barbieri. Lincoln assaulted Bevers's dealers, killed his enforcers, and destroyed his stills and trucks. He then entered the distillery and confronted Bevers, either killing or recruiting him to continue running moonshine for Burke. He also went after Sonny, killing his enforcers and extortion crews before attacking him in his office and giving him the same opportunity he gave Bevers. Either way, Barbieri was soon deeply indebted to the Marcanos. Burke then sent him a message, revealing that he, Nicki, and Lincoln were hiding out at his scrapyard. Barbieri gathered up a large crew and went to deal with the problem himself. Upon arrival, the mobsters were ambushed by Lincoln and Burke, and most were killed. Barbieri, severely wounded, was knocked unconscious and turned over to Burke. Years later, a sunken car was found in the Mississippi River, with Barbieri's skeletal corpse in the trunk. According to Jonathan Maguire, his legs were so shattered from repeated beatings that there was no bone left.
