|E41| Is visiting Arenal Volcano National Park in Costa Rica worth it?

Is visiting the Arenal Volcano National Park really worth it? In this video, we head out to the Arenal Volcano National Park. We are truly looking forward to getting closer to the Arenal Volcano, which is the most active volcano in Costa Rica. The entry fee is USD 15,- per person and there are a couple of open trails to choose from. From the parking lot, we are met by a beautiful white-throated magpie-jay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-t... We start out on the jungle trails, a narrow path with plenty of lush jungle and forest. It is hard to spot any animals in the dense jungle, but we hear a wild boar and make a jump for it over a cluster of critter crawling spiders. Next, we head out on a longer trail leading up to an old lava flow. There is a nice view towards the Arenal Volcano and the lake, but you are not allowed any closer to the volcano from this point. Heading back down, we get back into the Costa Rica jungle and visit the massive 400-year old Ceiba tree. Huge roots and it looks like something out of the Avatar movie. It was one of the highlights of the hike. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceiba After walking approx. 8-9 km's and having spent 5 hours in the Arenal Volcano National Park, we head back to the parking lot to evaluate. We didn't really get to see anything besides a couple of birds and some frogs... and after visit another Costa Rica National Park, we are perhaps slightly disappointed.
