Hi, I’m Torte de Lini. Let’s talk about why Disco Pony is one of the most popular successful Midlaners this patch and what makes him so strong in general. He’s got a whopping 57-59% winrate at the in high-level MMR pubs and despite having some obvious counters like Blade Mail, he’s currently very hard to stomp for a lot of line-ups. So that’s pretty much the reason. You can force push a lane with Lightning Storm to then run most enemies out of the lane with your pure-damage Diabolic Edict. Since Leshrac is technically not attacking anyone, Leshrac doesn’t aggro tower attacks and your creep continue to take the tower hits as you walk down your opponent. By the way, that’s Diabolic Edict with the Misanthropy facet, so you’re dealing 1,360 PURE Damage at level 4 on a single target in 6 seconds. That’s impossible for almost any hero to handle and with Leshrac being a midlaner, it means he always has a single target in the lane and has a massive level advantage against other lanes when he rotates. So against a lot of mid-laners like Storm Spirit, Invoker, Shadow Fiend and Necrophos, Leshrac just stomp them out of the lane. Here’s the second reason: with just a Blink Dagger, Leshrac punishes enemy lanes that are pushed out and it’s almost impossible to even survive that. Since Diabolic Edict has such a low cooldown, Leshrac, whether he won or lost his lane, can just straight-up delete heroes from the other lanes to help even the score and accrue gold to get his next item: usually Kaya to mitigate mana costs and improve spell damage output. From just the strong laning phase to the rotations, Leshrac gets a huge leap in gold, gives advantage to his side-lanes and keeps that map-pressure going even if he can’t use Diabolic Edict on towers any more due to the Misanthropy facet. Now the kicker is that you can’t do this in team-fights, Leshrac is a commitment hero, so once he jumps in, he’s in it and so you’re targeting with Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova is not to be in the middle of the fight, it’s to do the same thing Leshrac has been doing from the get-go: targeting isolated heroes with little escape capabilities and then relying on that Pure damage Diabolic Edict to whittle them down and separate them from the group. So that means Leshrac generally jumps in late on a fight and tries to find the right target like Outworld Destroyer, Gyrocopter, Luna, Sniper, etc. This was always why Leshrac was so strong but his counters were also nerfed too so they’re picked a bit less than before or just have less impact overall. Heroes like Queen of Pain and Dawnbreaker both got nerfed in 7.39d as well as Leshrac’s counter: Blade Mail. 0:00 Leshrac is the best Midlaner 0:31 Leshrac Laning is Too Good 1:35 Leshrac Ganking Comes Online Fast 2:35 Team-Fighting with Leshrac 3:49 Leshrac in 7.39d 4:14 Cast Diabolic Edict before Blink 4:36 Leshrac's Amazing Talents 5:22 Leshrac Item Build: Kaya & Sange, Black King Bar, Scythe of Vyse 7:21 In Summary You can find me on Twitter for thoughts, opinions and news: / tortedelini You can chat with me about Dota on Discord: / discord Bio: Torte de Lini is a popular Dota 2 Builds & Guides Creator.
