Legendary Charfade is harder than she appears, or maybe not if you’re really good. Her Physical primary and gun make her seem like an oversized Legendary God of War, who is widely regarded as a “joke” Legendary Boss, but she is far stronger than him. Even with the theoretical maximum amount of Defense save for the nine points in Support for Energy Parasite and depending on your cores, her gun still does not do minimal damage. Secondly, her lowest costing skill is Cheap Shot (140 energy compared to God of War’s Overload at 255), which makes heal looping with Parasite extremely problematic and impossible to force her to heal when she gets into that range. It certainly does not help that Parasite was recently nerfed to two turn and only return energy at a 1:1 ratio. Another problem is that, using a Dex build, she gains the Deflection advantage and it becomes really only possible to get “unlucky”. That is to say, your ability to survive counts on Charfade not getting lucky (i.e. critting) because it is impossible for you to get lucky (cannot deflect, blocks hardly help)… Pre-drain Strategy: The goal is to drain her as fast as possible whilst dealing as much damage as possible to reduce the number of rounds required to win, which will not only save you time but also decrease the chance that you’ll run into eventual problems after hundreds of rounds of looping. Prioritize Energy Shield, then Intimidate. Overload when appropriate, e.g. if you have extra energy before the next Parasite. If you level up Overlord instead of Intimidate, it can help a bit with lowering her health before she’s drained. When she is about to be drained, attempt to be at full energy and high health. This can go a long, long way. Otherwise, you may need to waste energy cores immediately just to recover like I did in this video. When she is nearly drained (1,000ish), survival can be challenging without Energy Shield and/or Intimidate. Energy Shot can be an effective tool for clearing the last bit of energy to escape this awkward phase a bit more quickly. I can’t count the number of times I’ve died on the last hit when draining bosses with Blood Mage. Post-drain Strategy: If using Critical Heal (Primary) and Nanosteel Armor, ONLY healing when in critical range is paramount to success since energy regeneration must be maximized at all costs. The main purpose of Nanosteel ensure that you are able to enter Critical Range (188 HP) without risk of dying by a crit. If not using Crit Heal, +45 Defense is the better option since you cannot risk allowing yourself into Critical Range. Energy gain cores are decidedly useful. Energy maintenance is the key to winning, and depends entirely on the ratio of Parasite loops to heal loops. Each Parasite can return about 50 energy, so the ratio must be at least 3:1 on a regular basis, but cores can get you out of a rut. It is imperative that you not allow Charfade to use Cheap Shot (140 energy cost). Her Reroute returns 25% energy, so when Energy Parasite is active, you can afford to give her no more than 174 energy on an attack. Although she has slightly higher Resistance than Defense (~20 points), it is recommended that you use an Energy primary because at times you will be forced to use Parasite on Rage, which can give her Cheap Shot if it does too much damage. Skipping 2-3 times per Parasite loop is normal. If you still have Energy Shot, it can be used near the end as a way to speed things up by a couple of rounds.
