Welcome to my installation video of my custom 3D-printed cupholder for the BMW E36! After two years of development and over 60 CAD revisions, this design is finally complete and aims at being an OEM+ cupholder that blends seamlessly into the E36 interior. In this video, I walk through the installation of the cupholder into the car, as well as some helpful tips and tricks along the way. 🔶 Coolest Feature: The cupholder uses the OEM ashtray light bulbs to provide the classic orange glow found throughout the E36’s interior! 🔶 This project has been a labor of love, from design iteration to post-processing using acetone smoothing. Acetone smoothing helps refine the surface, but for a showroom-perfect finish, additional sanding, filling, and painting may be required.
