World Championship 2019: Task 8

Day 8. After some thunderstorms during the rest day the weather has changed completely: it became about 15C cooler, and in the morning instead of California, it was more like Colombia near the takeoff: complete overcast, though some nice smooth thermals and cloud scratching. Initially the base was just few hundred meters above takeoff, and possibility of successful task was doubtful. Nevertheless, 65km task was set and flown successfully to goal by 108 pilots, 12 more reaching only ESS. Clouds cleared up in the middle of the task and everything went very fast: final glide was about 15kms with a strongish 10-15km/h tail wind. Area around ESS line was tricky, a lot of sink. What can be better than smell of cow shit, when you just crossed ESS and are not quite making it to the goal? :D Couple of turns in the last thermal and the goal is reached :). Nice day! =).
