I'm going to show you how to make a French seam. 💛🧡💛 We have our two pieces of fabric here that we want to sew together, and we want to sew this with a French seam. We sew the right sides together first, which is the opposite way to the plain seam. We are going to sew about a little less than foot width distance. Then after you sew the wrong sides together, you want to press this seam flat. Cut back the seam allowance to just 3 mm. Now we're going to sew right sides together. To achieve a really slim french seam you now do the same seam allowance again, just a little less than foot width. Then when you're done, you can take this to the ironing board, and you're going to press your seam to one side. Our french seam encloses the raw edge within this step. Check out the playlist and make sure you subscribe, so you are alerted when the next pattern is ready. Next up are is the matching sweatshirt. And that is just for starters! Who is your sewing tutorial teacher? Marina Brumpton is a traditionally trained seamstress and teacher of Textiles and Technology. She makes sewing for girls so much fun with her easy sewing tutorials. If you want to learn how to sew, this sewing project is a good way to start.
