10th Bombardment Group – Ruhr Valley Strike 25 December 1944 The 10th Bombardment Group launched a high-altitude daylight strike against a German airfield in the Ruhr Valley. Multiple B-17 formations crossed the English Channel, assembled over the continent, and proceeded to the target under fighter escort. Enemy resistance consisted of moderate flak over the target area and repeated fighter interceptions, including Bf 109s and high-speed jet aircraft. Defensive gunnery across the formation proved effective in driving off attackers, with several confirmed and shared aerial victories. One escort fighter was lost after an engagement, though the pilot successfully ejected and recovery efforts are ongoing. During the ingress, a minor mid-air collision occurred between two B-17s within the formation. Both aircraft sustained damage but remained controllable and successfully returned to base. No bomber losses were recorded. Bombing results were assessed as highly effective. Multiple crews reported accurate releases and verified impacts on the airfield and associated defenses, including the confirmed destruction of at least one AAA battery. Overall bombing accuracy and formation defensive fire contributed to a successful strike. Mission Result: Heavy damage inflicted on enemy airfield. All bombers returned to base. Fly with WingalingDragon (I love it when you do) Live, Tactical, and Community-Focused Combat Flight Sim Gameplay With a "healthy" fixation on WWII and the so-called golden age of dogfighting. Whether you're an experienced sim pilot looking to flex your skills, or just trying to figure out how not to taxi into a tree, you're welcome here. I consider it a privelege — the sky’s more fun when it’s full of friends. This channel is focused on immersive combat flight sims, real-time teamwork, viewer interaction, education, and chill lobbies full of bloodthirsty pilots. I stream live with no delay, actively chat with viewers, and prioritize requests for aircraft, mission concepts, and "can we try this" chaos. If it flies, I’ll fly it — and I’ll either learn it with you, teach you what I know, or take notes from someone more experienced. I’m always down to learn, and I never get tired of answering questions. Not really into being a sitting duck in formation flight? No problem! Come join us anyway — and hop on the ENEMY team. I usually broadcast my location and intentions, so you're more than welcome to fly out and meet us. Not every creator welcomes "stream sniping," but personally, I think it makes things more exciting. It’s worth the bad K/D. Nobody cares about my K/D, least of all me. I land bombers on carriers and fly under bridges just to see if I can... I usually can't. I'm here for a good time, not a high score. Watch Live and Chat in Real Time Twitch: / wingalingdragon Join the Community and Flyouts! Team Sim LFG (Looking For Group): / discord We fly IL-2, DCS, War Thunder Sim, and more — always with an emphasis on teamwork, radio comms, new pilot orientation, and not exploding on takeoff (usually). The server includes custom tags for each sim, so you’ll always know when groups are forming and whether it’s time to jump on. War Thunder Players – Want the 'Black Dragon' In-Game Decal? Use my store link to unlock it permanently and get 3 percent off your purchases. This supports the channel: https://store.gaijin.net/catalog.php?... After any purchase using that link, the WingalingDragon in-game decal will unlock automatically. You’ll find it under Special Logotypes in the decal menu. The inverted white version is also available for free under the Axis tab. Thanks for the privilege of your time. Feel free to reach out with ideas, suggestions, feedback, or complaints. I read everything — and take it all to heart to make things better. My goal is to bring as many people into WW II combat sims as possible, in a way where everyone can have fun. If you want to be part of that mission, we’d be glad to have another pair of eyes on the horizon (or even another bandit on our tails!) o7
