New Dam Wall & Spillway Holds Up - Heavy Western Cape rainfalls

The recent heavy rainfall in the Western Cape was heavy. There has been about 50 millimeters of rain in the last two days (35 millimeters in the last six hours). The mistake is to try to control the water over the dam (well... pond) wall, but we have since learned from others that creating a spillway around the dam is the right approach. I show the new dam wall that was built and the spillway that allows the water to flow naturally. The dam is now at 102%-105% capacity, providing much-needed water for survival for us, our livestock and wildlife! It's also retaining water pretty well now.
