I decided to completely remove the frame off of my 2006 Toyota Tacoma about a month after buying it in order to preserve the life of the truck and to not have to worry about having issues with a rotting frame down the road. I replaced most components during the repair and painted all the bolt heads before reinstalling on the truck. This was my first time removing a chassis from a truck and was done as a learning experience. I am by no means a professional. Hopefully this will inspire other people to take on this massive job at home. I'd like to give a special thanks to Aspasia Konstantakakos and her family for all their support. They were always so willing to help with all the heavy lifting throughout the repair. The repair took place in Courtenay, BC over the course of about 2.5 months. I was working fulltime during the repair and had to cycle to and from work every weekday. I found myself very tired near the end of the process but it was well worth it once the truck was reassembled. I thought I had beat the rot but once I had the frame sandblasted, it costed about 300$ in welding to cut out the rotted areas of the frame and weld in new plates to reinforce the weak points. Common rotting areas on this particular model are the cab mounts, carrier bearing crossmember and along the bottom of the C-channels of the chassis rails. I made the background music in Ableton Live.
