We are one of the leading pediatric hospitals in the diagnosis, research and treatment of birthmarks and vascular anomalies in the country. Our program treats children and adults of all ages. Video Transcript: Hello. I'm Dr. Beth Drolet. I am the medical director of the Birthmarks & Vascular Anomalies Center at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Center takes care of children and adults with vascular anomalies. Vascular anomalies is kind of a general term that's used to describe disorders of blood vessels. The term birthmark usually refers to anomalies of the skin, but many other organs can be involved, such as the liver, the bone, the brain, even sometimes into the spine, and so we need to draw together a group of specialists that are experts in those different areas. So our clinic involves many different specialties which include radiology, pathology, oncology, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, otolaryngology and general surgery. And by using all these different specialist we are able to really provide care for these children. Many of our patients come from either within the state, also many come from out-of-state, so we really try to make the visit here convenient in that we will have the review of their previous records, review of their previous radiologic studies. The parents worry so much about if their child's life is gonna be harder because of the way they look and to be able to improve that quality of life and address the parents' concerns at the same time is a very rewarding job.
