The church on the beach as seen in TVs Poldark is located at Gunwalloe Church Cove in the parish of Landewednack. It is the most southerly church in Britain. The church is dedicated to St Wynwallow whose parents were Cornish and fled to Brittany in France to escape the plague. To reach the church you need to take the A3083 out of Helston heading towards The Lizzard and look for a sign pointing to a right turn marked: Berepper,Gunwalloe and Church Cove. Church Cove is 3 miles down a narrow country road which does have quite a few passing places- Ok as long as you don't meet a tractor coming the other way. At the end of the road is a large National Trust carpark and it is a short walk to the church and beach. On the day we visited the church was open and sitting inside listen to the wind and waves crashing outside was most impressive.
