Like every other industry, film production is becoming more and more dependent on global workflows, high mobility, skilled crews, and digital processes that help increase efficiency – but what does it mean for the future of traditional production hubs like Studio Babelsberg? And how can political initiatives support a smooth digital transformation of filmmaking? Speaker: Charlie Woebcken is the CEO of Studio Babelsberg, the world’s oldest large-scale studio complex and one of Europe’s leading service providers for feature films and TV productions. Charlie Woebcken also is the Managing Director of Studio Babelsberg Motion Pictures and Babelsberg Film. The list of Charlie Woebckens co-producer credits is long and includes Tarantino, Spielberg, Polanski and Elizabeth Banks. To mention but a few: Oscar-winning The Counterfeiters, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer, Roland Emmerich’s Anonymous, George Clooney’s The Monuments Men, Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies, as well as Elizabeth Banks’ upcoming film Charlie’s Angels. Woebcken also served as co-producer on the fifth season of Homeland. Philipp Klausing is a Line Producer and Production Manager from Berlin. He is specialised in project development, co-production and company setup, budgeting & financing strategies, multi-country splits, cash flow planning (multi-party/multi-currency) and revenue/waterfall models. His filmograpgy includes Dark, a VOD Netflix series, You are wanted, a VOD series directed by Mathias Schweighöfer (Line Producer 2016) Homeland (unit production manager - 12 episodes 2015), Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarrantino (2008 unit manager), The Bourne Ultimatum by Paul Greengrass (2007 unit manager) to name but a view. Daniel Saltzwedel is a funding advisor for the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg film and New Media fund working on Film and High End Series. Daniel was a partner at Dox-Consulting with Liselot Verbrugge and Peter Jäger advising international documentary productions and working as a trainer and strategist. Previous stations include content development at Ma.ja.de. Filmproduktion, working as a documentary expert at the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and positions as a producer and manager at zero film (zero fiction/zero one). Daniel teaches financing and dramaturgy at the Film University Babelsberg and enjoys moderating public events. He has received formal training studying Business, Cultural Studies and Philosophy in Germany and Wales.
