On Sunday, Canada formally recognized the state of Palestine while also condemning Hamas, joining the U.K. and Australia, piling even more pressure on Israel to end the humanitarian suffering. The recognition of a two-state solution was made on the eve of what will be a high-stakes United Nations summit this week, aimed at bringing an end to the decades-long conflict. The U.S. is not on board and does not support a two-state solution and — no surprise — Israel rejected it. Mackenzie Gray reports. Some are accusing Canada, the U.K. and Australia of “rewarding terrorism,” including the federal Conservative party.
