Cohosted by AcademyGlobal and the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (Australia & New Zealand), this webinar featured Kumar Srinivasan BEng, MEng, FGIA, MAICD sharing expert insights on the evolving risk landscape, moderated by Jocelyn Cronin M.ISRM, Committee Member, ISRM NSW/ACT. The session brought together an engaged global community of risk professionals, with insightful audience questions highlighting the growing importance of strategic risk management in an era of radical uncertainty. Drawing on 20+ years of cross-sector experience across infrastructure, utilities, property, and higher education, Kumar explored how today's risks are no longer linear or contained. They are interdependent, fast-moving, and system-wide, demanding new approaches from practitioners. Key takeaways from this session: 🔹 Risk culture over frameworks: When people are under pressure, they default to culture, not frameworks. A strong risk culture built in calm times is what carries organisations through crisis. 🔹 AI as a triple disruption: AI is reshaping business models, operations, and academic integrity simultaneously. Clinging to the old model is riskier than innovating. 🔹 Look inward, not just outward: Boards often focus on the external threat landscape, but organisational resilience, the ability to absorb shocks and recover, is where the real work lies. Kumar's closing metaphor captured it perfectly: risk managers are the ones spotting the icebergs and telling the captain of the ship, but resilience means that even when the hull is damaged, we don't lose the ship. Thank you to Kumar for a candid and practical session, to Jocelyn for her expert moderation, and to everyone who joined for a strong and engaging discussion.
