Voice Science, do we need it? Dr Gillyanne Kayes collected a high-flying group of voice scientists, singing teachers and singers to ask the question. Here's her opening speech from the Pan European Voice Conference in Tallinn, Estonia in August 2022. The audience consisted of voice scientists, voice educators, singers, voice researchers and pedagogies. Gillyanne shares how she was heckled at two different PEVoCs for not including and then including voice science terms for vocal registers and laryngeal mechanisms in her presentation and masterclass.
