This was my first real step from sim to seat time. The goal wasn’t lap records or hero driving. It was learning how the car communicates at the limit, how weight transfer builds, and how control is something you develop rather than force. What surprised me most was how familiar the sensations felt. Under heavy braking, as the front loads and the rear goes light, that pivot point was instantly recognizable from sim racing. No motion rig, no seat shakers — just a direct drive wheel, a screen, and repetition. There’s still plenty to refine. Inputs to smooth out. Vision to improve. I also need to add a shifter to my sim setup so I can properly practice heel-toe braking and build that muscle memory outside the car. But this clinic at Thunderhill Raceway Park made one thing clear: the fundamentals transfer. This season is about learning car control, documenting the process, and seeing how far sim racing can translate to real-world driving — from autocross to track days.
