In this Chapter 3 excerpt from When Life Is Easy, Faith Gets Weak, we look at God’s serious warning in Deuteronomy 8:11–14: “Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God.” God did not warn Israel here about famine. He warned them about full stomachs. The danger was not hunger—it was forgetfulness. When life became comfortable, Israel was tempted to believe their own strength, work, and wisdom had provided everything they had. God warned them not to say in their hearts, “My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.” This same danger runs through the entire Bible. The prophets warned about it. Jesus warned about it. The apostles wrote about it. And they all spoke by the Spirit of Christ, who testified beforehand about these dangers. Forgetting God usually doesn’t happen all at once—it happens slowly: prayer becomes shorter, Scripture feels less urgent, obedience starts to feel optional, and trust quietly shifts from God to comfort. That’s why God commands us: “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.” Remembering God is not just memory—it is dependence. This chapter teaches a core truth for the whole series: Forgetting God in times of peace prepares the heart to fall in times of testing. Comfort tests faith just as surely as suffering does. 🔥📖⚔️ Yeah I cannot wait for you guys to do another sort
