At a Kennedy Center board meeting, President Trump provided an update on the war against Iran, claiming US and Israeli forces have "literally obliterated" Iran's military capabilities. He asserted that Iran's air force and navy are "gone," its radar and anti-aircraft systems "decimated," and its leaders eliminated. Trump reported more than 7,000 targets struck across Iran, with a 90 percent reduction in ballistic missile launches and a 95 percent drop in drone attacks, attributing the decline to strikes on weapons factories and military infrastructure. He said over 100 Iranian naval vessels have been sunk and that strikes on manufacturing plants continue daily, including three hit that day. On the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed all 30 Iranian mine-laying ships have been destroyed and that US forces are targeting Iran's ability to threaten shipping. He urged allied nations particularly those heavily dependent on the waterway to contribute to securing it, noting that many countries including Japan (95 percent), China (90 percent) and South Korea (35 percent) rely on the strait far more than the US, which gets less than 1 percent of its oil from there. Trump expressed frustration that some longtime US allies have been reluctant to assist despite decades of American security support, stating their level of enthusiasm "matters to me." He also noted the US has deliberately avoided destroying Iran's oil export infrastructure at Kharg Island to allow for future rebuilding but warned "one simple word" could change that.
