How often do you blame yourself for something that wasn't really your fault? Self-blame usually includes thinking we're more to blame for bad things than we actually are. Even in our new-age world we can blame ourselves for our external reality (law of attraction style!). But in reality, life is pretty complicated and blaming ourselves doesn't help us move forward in life. I'm a HUGE fan of taking responsibility for our decisions, actions and behaviour. But that's completely different to blaming yourself. So which are you doing....? Self Blame = 1. Beating yourself up (potentially for making a mistake, but also for something that wasn't even your fault!) 2. Calling yourself names like 'loser', 'pathetic' 'useless' etc. 3. Telling yourself it's your fault (while playing negative scenarios in your mind) Self blame leads to feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. It actually decreases the chances of you healing and evolving from the experience. Taking Responsibility = 1. Let's you see the part you played in the situation 2. You can grow and evolve from the experience 3. Allows you to be compassionate and forgiving with yourself When we take responsibility we can own up to any mistakes and make amends. This creates inner peace. We are gentle and supportive with ourselves because we understand it's okay to be human and mess up sometimes! Or, if things really weren't our fault, then we can see who really IS responsible. This decreases our chances of being involved in toxic, manipulative and narcissistic behaviour. Those types of people prey on those who naturally blame themselves. Set yourself free from self-blame now!
