My latest Lord of the Rings art discovery! This incredible art book is 'The Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt' and it's a good one! As I mention a lot, I am a huge LOTR nerd so books like this always stand out to me. But honestly, the detail in these paintings is mind blowing. I'm usually not big on what I class as a slightly 'older style' of art work but this one really stands out to me and fits incredibly well into the genre of fantasy. But what makes this book great to me, is the fact it's not just a fully rendered gallery, but also shows rough sketches, and more importantly, the reference and photo set up to achieve the end result.
