My tips for easy yamane IOL fixation technique 1- mark the site of entry 2ml from limbus and to ml long 2- open main wound at 12 h 3 keep the trailing haptic outside the wound 4- open 20g wound at 11h ( don't ever use the 9h wound ) 5- check that your 20g or 23g forceps enter and move smoothly through the wound and reach the haptic easily 6- introduce the insulin needle first vertical through the sclera then through the track feel the tip at the entry site first then enter the globe 7- get the insulin needle above the iris level and inclavate the haptic using the forceps in the insulin needle ( check that the insulin needle will allow this outside the eye before starting ) 8- withdrew the needle gently 9 - I cauterize the first haptic once I pull it out 10- the other haptic I keep it out of the wound 11- I get the needle out of the main wound and inclavate the other haptic easily using regular tying forceps ( I found this much more easy ) 12 - form the globe will before pushing the haptic in the track ( otherwise when the globe form the haptic may slip ) 13- thermal cautery is a must 14 - sensar 3 piece lens is much better than alcon in this technique ( In my opinion) 15 - ac maintainer is helpful but I personally could work without it by my technique
