The Kintetsu train company has a limited express service called URBAN LINER which links the cities of Nagoya and Osaka, Japan. I rode the URBAN LINER recently because I wanted to compare and contrast it with their Hinotori service (which I rode a few weeks ago). Hinotori and URBAN LINER are very similar: similar prices (even for premium seats), same route, nearly the same stops and timing, and both leave frequently each day. But Hinotori is winning awards for its luxury services, so what is the point of the older URBAN LINER still existing? Well, I bought a deluxe seat on an URBAN LINER one day to see for myself. I compared everything with Hinotori and tried to understand just what sets this one apart, and why you might choose this one over the newer one. Both are comfortable and clean, and I enjoyed the unique touches on URBAN LINER. And does it compare to the Hinotori? Well, watch and see for yourself. ▶︎ Hinotori train → • Affordable luxury?
