Welcome back to Grocery Run Tales, Episode Two! 🏙️ Today, my husband Asif and I are heading to one of the most vibrant and diverse pockets of East Vancouver: the Sunset on Fraser neighborhood. This area is a true hidden gem for anyone who loves authentic flavors, offering an incredible mix of South Asian, Filipino, and Chinese grocery stores all within a few blocks. 🌶️🥟 In this episode, we’re on a mission to restock our pantry with some of Asif’s cooking essentials. If you’ve followed our "Savory Sunday" streams, you know he takes his ingredients seriously! We navigate the bustling aisles to find specific spices and staples that make his home-cooked meals so special. But it’s not all about the savory—I had to track down one of my absolute favorites: my go-to Filipino instant coffee brand! It is seriously so good and a must-have for my morning routine. ☕✨ Shopping always works up an appetite, so since we were already in the neighborhood, we couldn't resist a stop at the legendary Duffin’s Donuts. 🍩 This Vancouver institution is famous for more than just its sweets! Asif tucked into a classic two-piece fried chicken dinner with crispy fries—the ultimate comfort meal. Meanwhile, I went for my personal "all-star" order: the BBQ Pork Tortita and a chili cheese dog with the works. 🌭 Every bite reminded me why this spot is a local favorite for late-night eats and hearty comfort food. We wrapped up our East Van adventure by hopping on the R4 RapidBus, making our way back to the Oakridge-41st Avenue SkyTrain Station. It was a successful run filled with great finds, delicious food, and even better company. Thank you so much for joining us live!
