Mangifera Odorata - Kwini Mango / Kuwini Mango Tasting

Today, Craig and Celeste taste a Mangifera Odorata, also called Kwini, Kuini, Siapan, Kuweni, Kuwini, or Kurwini mango. This was the first fruit we had off of our grafted tree. Craig grafted a scion onto Manfigera indica rootstock. I'm not sure if this fruit is a good representation of the species or not, but it is definitely an interesting fruit. We will be tasting both mangos grown at our own farm on the west coast of Florida and from other Florida farms (mainly on the east coast). Mangos taste different when grown in different conditions and when picked at different times/ripened differently. Our opinions of a particular mango are just that - opinions on one specific mango, off of a specific tree, growing in a a specific location. We are not evaluating a variety in general and by no means intend to offend anyone by our less than stellar review of what might be your favorite mango.
