In a vibrant celebration of its 15th anniversary season, Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, together with presenting sponsor The Children’s Trust, is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 Young Talent Big Dreams competition. The grand finale took place on Saturday, May 10 at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, following three exciting months of auditions and semifinals showcasing the talents of young performers from across Miami-Dade County. This special “quince” year marks a major milestone for Young Talent Big Dreams, now the largest free youth talent competition in Miami-Dade. Hundreds of aspiring artists between the ages of 8 and 18 participated in six preliminary auditions held at locations across the region, including the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay, Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer in west Miami-Dade, and the City of Miami’s Little Haiti Cultural Complex. A beloved tradition in the local arts scene, the program continues to spotlight the extraordinary abilities of young performers, proving once again that the next generation of talent is as rich and vibrant as the community they represent. Tamerlan Guliyev, a 14-year-old student at New World School of the Arts, stole the spotlight as both the Individual Dance Winner and Overall Grand Prize Champion, dazzling the audience with a high-energy jazz performance to Barry Manilow’s “Dancin’ Fool.” Guliyev received a $500 cash prize from Actors’ Playhouse and a magical getaway: four tickets to Universal/Islands of Adventure, courtesy of WSVN 7News. Prizes awarded included cash awards, scholarships, performance opportunities, and exclusive master classes with arts professionals, thanks to generous support from sponsors including the Coral Gables Rotary Club, Peacock Foundation, SouthState Bank, United Property Management A Milton Family Company, and Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. Young Talent Big Dreams mirrors the format of popular TV talent competitions and includes six individual categories: pop/rock/rap vocals; musical theatre, jazz standards, or classical vocals; dance; musical instrument; original spoken word; and original vocal and/or instrumental composition. Group categories (for ensembles of six or fewer) include vocal, dance, and musical instrument/bands. Live audiences attended the semifinals and finals, where up to five acts per individual category and three acts per group category competed for top honors. A panel of respected judges lent their expertise at the May 10 finale: David Arisco, artistic director of Actors’ Playhouse; Howard Cohen, reporter for the Miami Herald and adjunct professor at the University of Miami; and Giselle Deyá, educational programs director at Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. 2025 YOUNG TALENT BIG DREAMS CONTEST WINNERS: Individual Dance and Overall Grand Prize Winner Tamerlan Guliyev, 14, New World School of the Arts Original Composition Winner Soleil Nation, 11, North Beach Elementary School Individual Vocal – Broadway/Jazz/Classical Winner Antonella Laferriere, 14, Divine Savior Academy Individual Vocal – Pop/Rock/Rap Winner Nina Marie, 16, Miami Beach Senior High School Individual Original Spoken Word Winner Nyshelle Burns, 18, Miami Norland Senior High School Individual Musical Instrument Winner Benjamin Baralt, 11, Alexander Montessori School Group Vocals Winner SAH CONSERVATORY OF DRAMATIC ARTS Emmanuel Arcilla, 13, of Downtown Doral Charter School; JJ Calvo, 13, of Doral International Academy of Math and Science; Paulina Gonzalez, 10, of Shelton Academy; Sophia Bovensiepen, 13, of Doral Academy Preparatory School; Ana Paula Mayor, 10, of Pinecrest North Preparatory; and Anna Hurtado, 9, of Academir Charter School East.
