Making a Multi Size Dowel Maker. In this video, I show you how I built a simple multi-size dowel maker using nothing more than a 15 cm flat steel bar. It’s a small project, but incredibly useful in the workshop. With this homemade tool, I can now make 10 mm, 8 mm, and 6 mm wooden dowels whenever I need them - no more running to the store for dowels that are never the right size. The build is easy, affordable, and surprisingly satisfying. I walk you through each step: drilling the holes, shaping the edges, and testing the tool with different wood pieces. To make this jig, you will need a 15 cm flat steel bar, three drill bits (10 mm, 8 mm, and 6 mm), a piece of sandpaper, a drill/driver, and either a utility knife, a chisel, or a hand plane. You can also start by using the 10 mm hole and then the 8 mm one, and do the same to make 6 mm dowels.
