A program exists in Washington State that will dismiss your DUI (and every other accompanying criminal charge), result in on jail, no fines and may even save your driver's license. This unique program is called deferred prosecution. However, there are many rules. You may only use the deferred prosecution once in a lifetime, you must successfully complete 2 years of alcohol treatment (or drug treatment or mental health counselling), you must install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle for at least one-year, you must attend 2 AA meetings (or equivalent) for 2 years, you cannot consume alcohol or non-prescribed drugs for 5 years, you are on active probation for 2 years and probation for a total of 5 years. To qualify for deferred prosecution you must be deemed alcohol or drug dependent or suffer from a mental health issue.
