Massive fire erupts at substation in London shutting Heathrow Airport #breakingnews #fire #london #unitedkingdom Heathrow Airport in London, one of the busiest in the world, will remain closed all day Friday due to a significant power outage caused by a large nearby fire. “Due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying the airport, Heathrow is experiencing a significant power outage,” the airport said in a statement. “To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, Heathrow will be closed until (11.59pm) on 21 March.” The London Fire Brigade reported that a transformer in the substation was on fire, with 10 fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters responding to the incident. “Firefighters have led 29 people to safety from neighbouring properties, and as a precaution, a 200-metre cordon has been established, with around 150 people evacuated,” Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne said in a statement.
