Police chase and high-risk traffic stop in Flagler County, Florida, United States, October 11, 2021 - Two convicted felons in a stolen truck containing a firearm and drugs tossed tools, a large toolbox and various debris onto a rural Flagler County road to try to stop the patrol cars pursuing them in a “wild police chase” Monday, authorities said. Tammy Pecor and Shane Hendricks, both 44, were arrested about 2 p.m. after the Ford F-250 could go no further on three flat tires, the result of StopSticks that law enforcement had deployed several miles earlier, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said. No injuries were reported. The suspects led deputies from Flagler Palm Coast High School, just west of Interstate 95, west on State Road 100 and then southwest along State Road 11 into Bunnell, before they were captured and handcuffed alongside the two-lane road in a rural area. In the high school parking lot, Hendricks had driven the truck over medians to escape officers, according to the department. Students had the day off as Monday was a teacher work day for Flagler County public schools. A deputy flattened the truck’s tires as it left school property, but that didn’t stop the suspects. During the police chase, deputies said, Hendricks threw the tools and other items from the driver’s side window at pursuing deputies. Pecor then took over driving as Hendricks climbed through a window into the bed of the truck and began methodically emptying its contents - including a large blue toolbox, a stamping machine and a sledgehammer - onto the road in an attempt to disable the patrol cars, which were forced to swerve to avoid hitting the items, the department said. As Hendricks dumped the items, Pecor began careening back and forth into the northbound lane before pulling onto the shoulder, a sheriff’s office dashcam video shows. The stolen vehicle finally came to a stop and deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Hendricks and Pecor were arrested. Later, a search of the Ford turned up a loaded semiautomatic firearm, a scale covered with white residue, a straw lined with a white crystalline substance, a cutting board, methamphetamine, and cocaine, the department said. The truck had been reported stolen out of Jacksonville. “This was a wild and one of the most bizarre police chases I have seen in my career,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement.
