The idea was to create a garment that can move between mid-layer and shell duties depending on the situation, while keeping the natural advantages of wool front and center. High-quality wool is nothing like the scratchy stuff people remember. The Woolshell uses a heavy 400 g/m² wool frieze made from 70% recycled wool and 30% recycled polyamide. This fabric has structure, durability, and real substance. Wool breathes well and doesn’t feel clammy like plastic-based materials. It resists dirt and odors, doesn’t easily ignite, and retains warmth even when slightly damp. It also gradually forms to the wearer, becoming more comfortable over time. The garments are made in the EU, in Latvia. The jacket features a modern, functional design focused on usability in the field. It has an adjustable hood with a drawcord that can be tucked inside, a front zipper with an interior storm flap, and underarm ventilation zippers for airflow during high activity. The hem is adjustable with an elastic drawcord. Articulated elbows improve mobility, and reinforced elbow areas include pad pockets. Hook-and-loop cuffs allow easy adjustment, and there’s a loop panel on the sleeve for patches. Storage is straightforward and low profile: two zippered chest pockets and two zippered upper arm pockets. Reinforcements are made from a 50/50 cotton-polyester blend for added durability in high-wear areas, and the pocket linings are 100% polyester. The Woolshell isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about taking a proven natural material and applying it to a modern clothing system. The snug fit reduces excess material, which means less weight and less interference under equipment.
